The School is closed until 8:30am. This allows teachers time to attend meetings, prepare programmes etc. Staff meetings are held Tuesday after school and Thursday mornings from 8am. Children are not to enter the school before 8.30 a.m.

A bell is rung at 3.10pm to remind children to clear the school grounds as soon as possible after this time, allowing teachers to attend other meetings and prepare work. All Children must go straight home before they begin other activities.

Strategic Goal #1:

Moving students below National Standard (NS) level to, at or above by the end of the year. An emphasis on our underachieving Maori and Pasifika will occur. In a whole-school approach we wish to lift overall student achievement in Mathematics and reduce disparities in achievement.

Annual Aim:
All students identified as below and well below the NS for Maths will make accelerated progress to be at or above the NS for maths by the end of the year.
To progress students to at or above the National Standard in Writing.

Improvement of Students’ Math’s Skills:
Analysis of school-wide Maths data in November 2015 identified 24% of students were below or well below the National Standard for their year. Maori were 25% below or well below. Pasifika were 37% below or well below. (includes ors and esol)

Students will be assessed regularly via Gloss/Jam with school-wide data collected March and November for analysis.

Ongoing monitoring meetings to discuss priority targeted students
Work with families to support students’ learning.
Communication between parties for students receiving extra assistance is vital. Close monitoring of progress.

Maths: all Year levels had increased the % of achievement significantly over the year-eg Yr 2 & 4 by 21% and Yr 6 by 24%. Pasifika had an increase of 21% over the year in achievement to 67% at or above. Maori students performed 2% above All students in November. Maori students had increased their achievement At or Above by 9% points to 79% Nov.

All students At or Above 77% by end of year.

Data includes our 56 Esol and 11 ors students.

A concerted focus on improvement focused teaching outcomes.

All aspects of school endeavour focused on the desired outcome.

We applied teacher development across the staff- sharing practice. Moderation and discussion was used to support teaching staff.

Use Inquiry Process to remediate and enrich student performance with attention to specific groups.  There will be ongoing liaison between classes and Special Programmes teachers for support.

Trial Word Lab resource

Writing: All Year levels except Yr 1 (tends to be reflective of this age group and their time at school) & Yr 3 (down 2%) have made increases- Yr 2 14%, Yr 4 19% and Yr 6 22%. Pasifika increase of 13%. Maori students a decrease of 1%. Females were 18% ahead overall than males. NZ European were 9% ahead of Maori.
